Developed by Imagineering Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 Story -------------------------------------------------------------------- Live from the Springfield Arena! It's everyone's favorite show, Juggernauts! Where crazy contestants risk life and limb to compete against hulking juggernauts and win fabulous prizes (and takes no legal responsibility for any injuries they might sustain)! Let's see who today's contestant will be... Why, it's Bart Simpson! Bart, come on down and see if you have what it takes to defeat the juggernauts and win a fantastic prize! ==================================================================== ===== 2.0 BASICS =================================================== -------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 Game Start -------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Start - - - - - Press A at the start screen to begin the game. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 Four Weeks in Juggernaut Hell -------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart vs. the Juggernauts is broken up into several mini games that are played over the course of four weeks (in the game, not in real life. Duh.) You will start at Week #1, and subsequently go through weeks #2, #3, and #4. The various events will appear for different weeks, but the difficulty and strategy will remain the same. There will also be a bonus event after weeks #1, #2, and #3. For each week you will be given the option of two or more events to choose from (though you must beat all the events each week to advance on to the next week). Press A when the event you want to choose is lit. Here are the required amounts of cash for each week: Week #1: $10,000 Week #2: $26,000 Week #3: $52,000 Week #4: $100,000 ==================================================================== ===== 3.0 EVENT GUIDE ============================================== -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Dr. Marvin Monroe's Hop, Skip and Fry -------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Marvin Monroe: "For this event I'd suggest the contestant overcome his or her game playing inhibitions and experiment with some new moves!" This event involves shooting a ball through a basket. But, to get to the basket you have to cross a floor of electrified tiles and two big juggernauts. Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Balls....Number of balls you got into the basket. Rods.....Will electrify when floor is going to switch. Hits.....Remaining hits. Timer....Remaining time. Control---------------------------------------------------- Left.....Run or jump left. Right....Run or jump right. Up.......Jump up. Down.....Jump down. A........Hold to jump two squares, press next to the basket to shoot, press one space from the basket to dunk. Start....Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Two large juggernauts. Electrified floor. Strategy: Two Large Juggernauts---------------------------- First of all, the juggernauts can only jump on the tiles of electrified floor. They will not jump out onto the top or bottom areas. Once you get onto the floor tiles they can begin to annoy you. These guys just hop around aimlessly, but if you and a juggernaut happen to be on the same tile, you will be bounced to any tile that is two spaces away. It could be an evil black tile or lovely white tile. Who knows. With that said, there's not much else to do. You can try and throw off the juggernauts by taking different paths, but I'll get into that next. Strategy: Electrified Floor-------------------------------- Now this is where it gets tough. The floor is divided into a 10 X 10 sized floor, with each tile representing one space. The goal is to jump across the white tiles and get to the basket at the end so you can shoot the ball. In order to cross the tiles, you'll need to press Up or Down to jump to the next tile. You can also jump over one space by holding A and then jumping. Holding A and jumping (double jumping) is valuable because that is the only way to jump over the single black spaces and is the quickest way to get to the other side. After about a minute, the tiles will begin periodically switching from black to white. You can tell exactly when they will switch by the flashes before. The floor will flash twice, and on the third flash it will switch the tiles. Keep that in mind. Although it may seem random, there are only two phases in that tile switching confusion. For each phase there are easy paths you can take to get to the top and bottom. X = The tiles you can jump on to get across. BBB = The evil black tiles. Avoid with double jumps. Floor Phase 1 ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | | X | | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | |BBB| | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | | X | | | |BBB| | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | |BBB| | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | | X | | | |BBB| | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | |BBB| | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | | X | | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | |BBB| | | |BBB| | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | | X | | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | | | | X | | | | X | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| Floor Phase 2 ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | X | | | | | |BBB| | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| |BBB| | | | | | X | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | X | | | | | X | X | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| |BBB| | | | | X | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | X | | | | |BBB| | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | X | | | | | X | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| |BBB| | | | | X | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | X | | | | |BBB| | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| | X | | | | | X | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| |BBB| | | | | X | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| These paths work all the time, and eventually you should have the floor phases memorized. The only problem is those damn juggernauts, who jump around randomly. Just use the different paths to throw them off the scent. Strategy: Shooting the Ball-------------------------------- This is fairly easy. Once you get to the top you have two options. You can stand right next to the basket and shoot the ball, or you can dunk that sucka'. To dunk the ball you have to get a running start and press A one space away from the basket. The dunks are easy to do and grab more points, so stick to those. Money------------------------------------------------------ The money accumulated at the end falls into four basic categories: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Ball Bonus: You get a bonus for each ball you got in. Hits Bonus: You get a bonus for each hit you still have. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you keep at least one hit. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.2 Capt. Murdock's Skateboard Bash and Crash -------------------------------------------------------------------- Capt. Murdock: "Howdy li'l pardner! A special super skateboard would improve your chances dramatically! So would a careful choice of ramp lanes." Ride a skateboard down a ramp and smash into a juggernaut. Simple, no? No. There are plenty of obstacles to keep you occupied as you develop a winning run. Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Speed....Push A repeatedly to gain speed and fill the meter. Runs.....Remaining runs. Control---------------------------------------------------- Left.....Slow down. Up.......Move up. Down.....Move down. A........Press repeatedly to speed up. Start....Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Juggernaut arms (through the floor). Pizza slices. Juggernaut shield. Floor bumps. Strategy: Speed-------------------------------------------- This part is simple enough. All you have to do is press A repeatedly to gain speed. You can check how fast you're going in the Speed meter. If you want to fly off the ramp at the end and actually reach the juggernaut on the platform you have to hit the end of the ramp at full speed. Strategy: Getting Down the Ramp---------------------------- Once you've got the speed going you can head down the ramp. As soon as you go over the edge you'll probably notice the pizza slices and juggernaut hands that will appear in various spots. There is no definite pattern for these so the best thing to do is stay at the top or bottom and move when an obstacle appears. Don't too far up or down to avoid obstacles in the other lane. Strategy: Hitting the Juggernaut--------------------------- So you're flying down the ramp at top speed and you've avoided every little thing on the ramp. You're flying as free as a bird, soaring majestically through the air... until you crash right into a hulking juggernaut. Don't worry, that's what you're supposed to do. The trick is to actually reach the juggernaut and knock him off the platform. It's not THAT difficult. Just fly through the air on the same trajectory vector angle adjacent to the rate of ascent and continue towards the intended point of impact. Did ya get all that? No? Fine. Once you exit the ramp, continue on the same path until you see the platform and juggernaut. From there the juggernaut will be holding a shield over his upper or lower body. Move Bart so the kick hits the juggernaut as close to the center of his body as possible (to get as much money as possible). What can go wrong? Plenty. You can fall short of the platform and fall into the abyss like a LOSER. You can crash right into the shield like a LOSER. Or you can fly too high and go over the juggernaut entirely, like a... Actually, you can still save a run if you go too high. Look for a skateboard in the air after you've flown over and grab it. This will keep you from losing a run and you can try the run again. Strategy: The Bonus Skateboard----------------------------- There's a way to get more money that requires you to actually MISS the juggernaut. Go down the hill as usual and fly off the ramp. However, you will then need to hold Up so that you actually go over the juggernaut. There will be a bonus skateboard floating in the air behind the juggernaut. If you grab it you will be allowed to go back for another run without losing any of your runs. This will only work if you haven't lost any runs already. So, that's it. You can repeat it a few times to ensure more cash at the end. After you've had your fill, go ahead and crash into the juggernaut. It should add from $2000 to $3000 to the overall score. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Runs Bonus: You get a bonus for each run you still have. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.3 Nuclear Power Plant Bop `Till You Drop -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Burns: "Although I'll go to my grave denying it, certain so-called scientists insist our harmless nuclear byproducts can actually cause pain when coming in contact with skin! I say rubbish!" Yea baby, now we get to some good ol' juggernaut bashin'! Just like that American Gladiators event called "Joust", gladiators whack each other with padded bats to knock the opponent off a platform. Status Screen---------------------------------------------- KO's....1 is added after every fall. Get 3 and you lose. Hits....Start with 5 hits, and you fall if you lose all 5. Hits regenerate every 3 seconds. Timer...Remaining time to get three KO's on the juggernaut. Control---------------------------------------------------- Left.....Move to the left. Right....Move to the right, jab with the bat, block. Up.......Take a high swing with the bat. Down.....Duck, take a low swing with the bat. A........Jump, hold Right and A to block. B........Swing the bat. Start....Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- A juggernaut. His bat. Nuclear waste drops. Strategy: Where to Stand----------------------------------- There are three positions on the platform: left, center, and right. The best place to stand is in the center. From there you can still reach across for some good hits while avoiding the nuclear drops that fly out of the waste. Strategy: Avoiding Hits------------------------------------ There are a few ways to avoid the business end of a bat. An easy (but difficult to time) method is to press A and jump over the bat. You'll avoid the hit, but you may also land right into a swing when you land. Another method is to hold Right and A to block. This works better than jumping, but you also have to watch if the juggernaut is standing high or crouching. If he's high you have to stand up, if he's crouching you'll have to duck down while blocking. To add another annoyance, small nuclear drops will fly out of the other end and land on your platform. They hit the right side of the platform, so just don't stand there. Strategy: Hitting the Juggernaut--------------------------- Oy, all these fancy moves. Jumping, high swings, ducking and blocking. ALL USELESS!!! There are a few simple steps to a guaranteed win. Hop to the right once so that you're in the center, hold B, and hold Right. Bart will keep jabbing forward with the bat. Now the juggernaut may get in a few shots, but don't worry about it. You will usually recover a hit between his swings, and your bat jabs will be too quick to recover from. You can also use your bat to hit the nuclear drops in the direction of the juggernaut. They take two hits instead of the usual one. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Time Bonus: Remaining time will be multiplied and added. KO's Bonus: The less KO's against you, the more money. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.4 Moe's Tavern Shove Fest -------------------------------------------------------------------- Moe: "Try the back flip--it's a real doozy! And keep your filthy paws off the mat. That's my own personal table cloth on there!" Let's wrassle! This event is a basic bout of bar-room brawling (say that five times fast). Bart will have to face off against Snarla and Barney Gumble, two of the fiercest shovers on Juggernauts! Status Screen---------------------------------------------- KO's....1 is added after every fall. Get 2 and you lose. Timer...Remaining time to get 2 KO's on the juggernaut. Control---------------------------------------------------- D-pad....Move around the mat. B........Shove opponent, press with Down to duck, press with Right or Left to run and shove. A........Jump, press with Up to jump-kick, press with Down to run and headbutt. Start....Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Snarla the juggernaut. Barney the drunk. Strategy: Stay Away from the Edges------------------------- You lose by falling off the mat, so naturally you'll want to stay away from the left and right sides. You can go near the top and bottom without a problem. Strategy: Snarla and Barney-------------------------------- Both opponents have simple shove attacks like the ones you have, as well as stunners. A stunner occurs when they perform a special move and cause you to remain stunned for about three seconds. Snarla's stunner is a kiss, and Barney uses a burp attack. They can lead to a big hit that will knock you out off the mat, so try and keep your opponents as close to the edge on their side as possible. Strategy: Knocking Out Opponents--------------------------- You know how I mentioned that you can go near the bottom of the mat? Good, because that comes into play here. Start by getting to the bottom of the mat, then hold Down and start to press A repeatedly to do the headbutt attack. Keep repeating the headbutt attack and you should easily be able to knock both Snarla and Barney out of the ring. You can try Up and A to do jump-kicks, but that still leaves you open for attack. Strategy: The Back Flip------------------------------------ There's this one cool move that works great... if you can pull it off. Hold B and press Down to have Bart duck down. It seems to be a pointless move, but that's only the set-up. Wait for your opponent to get close, and I mean CLOSE, then quickly press Up. Bart will pump his ten year old muscles and launch the opponent up into the air, knocking them out for a few seconds. If you're close to the edge the toss will get you a straight KO. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Time Bonus: Remaining time will be multiplied and added. KO's Bonus: The less KO's against you, the more money. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.5 Herman’s Military Minefield Mayhem -------------------------------------------------------------------- Herman: "Psst! Listen, kid: This info is top secret, you get me? Avoid the water balloons--they're strictly verboten! And don't loiter on the minefield!" Ah, I love the smell of mortar water balloons in the morning. Do YOU have what it takes to parachute through a barrage of knives and mortar balloons, then sprint across a minefield? Do ya, maggot?! Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Runs....You have 3 runs to complete the event. When you get 3 hits you lose 1 run. Timer...Remaining time to complete the event. Hits....You start with 3 hits and lose 1 every time something hits you. Lose 3 hits and you lose 1 run. Control---------------------------------------------------- Parachute - - - - - Up.......Slow down. Down.....Speed up. Minefield - - - - - D-pad....Move around the field. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Knives. Mortar balloons. Mines. Grenades. Strategy: Parachute Drop----------------------------------- This can be pretty tough at first, so get ready to practice quite a bit. As you freefall you can hold Up to slow down or hold Down to speed up. The knives always shoot straight, so slowing down often works when trying to avoid those. The mortar balloons are quite the opposite: they shoot out in an arc and can vary in speed and trajectory. Avoid them by speeding up to go under them or moving to the opposite side from the guy shooting. Start slowing down when you reach the bottom because if you're going too fast you'll hit the ground and lose a run. Strategy: Crossing the Minefield--------------------------- Crossing the minefield is easy to understand, and difficult to execute. What you have to do is walk around and avoid the mines and grenades, but the mines are packed very close together. It's very much like threading a needle. The best thing to do is take your time and stay along the bottom paths. Don't stand still too long because the grenades home in on your position. The barbed wire sections are no different from the rest of the minefield, except for the absence of mines. Consider them a break between the difficult parts. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Time Bonus: Remaining time will be multiplied and added. Runs Bonus: Bonus money for each remaining run. Win Event Bonus: You get lots of cash if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.6 The Krustyland Hammer Slammer -------------------------------------------------------------------- Krusty the Clown: "Here's a tip from your old pal Krusty: Keep pounding away and watch for those containers of "Juggernaut juice"--the fruitlicious fuel of champions!" Bart slam! Bart smash! In this event you have to use a hammer to keep juggernauts from reaching the ground and hitting you. Whack all the poles as quickly as possible! Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Timer..............Remaining time in the event. Juggernaut poles...Keeps track of the juggernaut positions on the poles. Power..............Tracks the power for each hammer slam. Control---------------------------------------------------- Left/Right...Move in that direction. Press twice in the same direction to run at max speed. A............Press once to start the power meter, press again to release at the right moment. Start........Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Lots of running. Strategy: Speed It Up Grandma------------------------------ If you press Left or Right twice you can run quickly in any direction, so why would you want to walk at normal speed? I don't care if the juggernauts are all at the top of the poles, you speed the hell up and keep slammin'. Strategy: Keep Track of the Juggernauts-------------------- That tracker at the bottom of the screen is helpful for keeping track of the juggernaut positions. You don't want the juggernauts anywhere near the bottom, so pay attention and run where you're needed. I think it's best to keep them in order (left to right, right to left) so there won't be any crazy last minute runs. Strategy: Slamming the Juggernauts------------------------- Ah, it's finally clobberin' time! The whole point of this event is to keep the juggernauts up on the poles for the entire time, and weak little sissy man slams just won't cut it. It's easy to do the power slams. Just start the power meter, then press A again when the meter is at the right edge. This will guarantee a big hit that will keep the juggernauts at the top of the screen. Now, if you happen to see a small can float down from the top of the screen, GRAB IT! That's juggernaut juice, and with it you can actually knock a juggernaut off the pole. Just charge your power meter like usual and hit one of the poles. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.7 The Kwik-E-Mart Doggie Dodge -------------------------------------------------------------------- Apu: "Greetings valued challenger! Please allow me to offer some advice: certain helpful canine-type items left on my shelves by disrespectful customers should be of some use to you!" It's a cat's worst nightmare! Apu's store has been turned into a giant dog house, where dogs roam free and dog foods litter the floor. Bart has to get through the store to win this event. Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Chances....Remaining chances to beat the event. Item.......You can see what item you are currently holding. Control---------------------------------------------------- Left/Right...Move in that direction. B............Press to use bones and sausages. A............Press to jump. Start........Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Dogs aplenty. Annoying jumps. Strategy: Jumping------------------------------------------ What do you know, a platform stage! This certainly switches things around. The jumping here is just like any other platformer, so press A and hop along. Strategy: Getting to the Top------------------------------- For this event you will have to make your way to the top by jumping on dog cages and boxes of dog food. It's not hard to figure out the correct path as each floor alternates from right to left. You won't lose a chance for the big falls, but you will certainly delay your winning of the event. Strategy: Doggie Dodging----------------------------------- Throughout the event there will be several dogs just waiting to take a bite out of Bart. There are a couple of things you can do to avoid them. One is simply jumping over the dogs. They are rather slow to react when they see you, and you have time to run up and jump over. For the dogs that jump up out of holes, wait for them to start going down and quickly make the jump. You can also use the bones and sausages that are scattered in the event. Press B when you see a dog to use the item and distract the dog while you get away (Note: the bones and sausages won't work on the dogs that are inside cages.) If you see Bart's face go from normal to terrified, then a dog is nearby. Strategy: Sausage Swinging--------------------------------- About midway up the stage there will be a part with some dogs swinging sausage from their jaws. You can grab the sausages and use them to get to the next platform. Just jump on when the sausage is low, then jump off when the sausage is high. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Chances Bonus: Chances are multiplied and added to the overall score. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.8 Bonus Event -------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice, looks like you can earn some extra cash by testing the mettle of Snarla, the female juggernaut. All you have to do is drop weights from above and let the lady catch 'em. Status Screen---------------------------------------------- Timer....Remaining time in the event (decreases each time). Control---------------------------------------------------- Left/Right...Move in that direction. B/A..........Press to drop weights. Start........Pause game. Obstacles-------------------------------------------------- Careful aiming. Strategy: Aiming the Drops--------------------------------- Although it may appear easy at first, aiming the weights becomes a crucial part of the bonus event by the end. The best way to go is to wait ahead of Snarla and drop the weight straight down as she approaches. That way the weight will hit the pole at the moment it is under you. You can also move right or left and drop the wait as you move for an angle drop, but only if you're desperate. Those tend to miss often. Strategy: Balancing Weights-------------------------------- There are three different types of weights that will appear. In order to get the pole properly balanced, each side must have an equal number of identical weights. For example: say you drop a large weight on the right side, then when you try and drop another large weight on the right it doesn't stick. That's because you have to balance them by putting a large weight on the left to even it out. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Money------------------------------------------------------ Here's what you can win in this event: Event Money: What you get for playing the event. Time Bonus: The remaining time is multiplied and added to the overall cash. Win Event Bonus: You get money if you pass the event. ==================================================================== ===== 4.0 CODES & SECRETS ========================================== GameGenie Codes - - - - - - - - Unlimited time on all games 008-A6F-3B7 Start on week 2 023-5B9-F76 Start on week 3 033-5B9-F76 Start with 1 life 01E-A89-F76 Start with 2 lives 02E-A89-F76 Start with 3 lives 03D-89A-916 Start with 6 lives 06D-89A-916 Start with 9 lives 09D-89A-916 See end sequence 043-5B9-F76 ==================================================================== ===== 5.0 LEGAL / MISC. ============================================ -------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Version History -------------------------------------------------------------------- November 26: Version 1.0 - - - - - - - - - - - - - There, now the guide is completely complete.
