I've placed a poll at the top of this News page that will remain there until the next Simpsons video games are announced. It will be interesting to see what the public would like to see and what EA actually delivers.
Happy (belated) Birthday!
16 Feb 2006
I totally forgot about Matt Groening's birthday! He turned 52 this February 15th, and I want to wish him the best for the coming year. As a celebratory treat I brought out this old game sprite of Groening that I captured from the game Bart vs. the World, in which a grayscale version of him appears on a sheet of paper in the background of the final stage. The sprite has been added to the Bart vs. the World page.
Behind the Scenes added to Game Info
12 Feb 2006
I have finally updated a few of the Game Info pages with "Behind the Scenes" information such as sales numbers and features that were cut out of the games before they were released.
Itchy and Scratchy Golf article
11 Feb 2006
Today's update is a scanned article from the August '94 issue of Nintendo Power. The article covers about half of the game and really shows off the levels well. Check it out in the scanned articles section.
The weird history of Acclaim
19 Jan 2006
The official Nintendo site has a little article that goes over Acclaim's sordid history. Acclaim was the publisher for all of the Simpsons titles in the early to mid 90s (with few exceptions), hence the Bart and the Beanstalk in the title. Check it out at their site!
Simpsons Arcade on Xbox Live
18 Jan 2006
That title is eye-catching isn't it? Unfortunately it hasn't happened... yet. IGN held a reader poll asking which classic games should be available for purchase and download via Xbox 360's Live Arcade and The Simpsons Arcade scored third out of the top 10 most wanted games. Fans have been begging (I sure as hell have) for an improved home version of the classic arcade game for years, and hopefully this high profile article gets the wheels in motion.
Site forum now open!
02 Jan 2006
With the help of my host and some time I've finally opened the site forum. There's a board for each platform and general discussion as well for anyone who has a question. Check it out.
New articles for a new year.
31 Dec 2005
Hey folks. The final update of the year is damn good one; someone emailed me a bunch of scanned articles about Simpsons video games... in Spanish! I can read 'em OK and I figure any other Spanish-speaking fans will enjoy the articles as well. You'll find them in the scanned articles section.
I also came across an ad for Simpsons Pinball that I hadn't scanned, and you'll find those with the scanned advertisements.
If you see this it's news to you.
25 Dec 2005
So we're back after a week of technical issues. There's no real update today but we should have new stuff by the end of the week.
Updates, three... virtual reality!
19 Dec 2005
We have quite a few new things today. First is the news management system that allows me to make easier news updates and also has a feature for users who want to post comments. Post away, kids!
There's also a few things in the Game Guides section. I updated both of the Virtual Bart guides and created a map for Virtual Springfield. Check them out if you need help in those games or any other Simpsons games.
Finally, there were a few important news items that I don't want to lose from the old news page, so here are the autumn highlights:
12/08/05 - Acclaim, famous for releasing many a licensed title throughout the 90s, goes bankrupt and all of the games, including Simpsons games, are put up for auction. See the full details (saved on my server for archive purposes).
11/14/05 - The whole site gets redesigned to version 6.0. Check out the old design.
